Mary Virginia (Kloos) Shindle

Mary Virginia (Kloos) Shindle, 74, of 61 Chase Street, Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully Thursday, January 22, 2015, in Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster. Mary was born March 16, 1940, in Sharon, to Frederick William Kloos, Jr. and Eunice Virginia (Ollinger) Kloos. She graduated from Sharon High School in 1958 and from Baldwin Wallace College, Berea, Ohio, in 1962. She began her career as a librarian with the Cuyahoga County Public Library in Ohio, and retired from the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library in 2000 after more than 20 years of service. Mary enjoyed singing and was active with the Carroll County Choral Society and the Senior Singers. She was the original secretary of the Choral Arts Society of Carroll County (Masterworks Chorale). She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frederick W. Kloos, III. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Lee Shindle, whom she met at Baldwin Wallace College; a son, Robert William Shindle of Westminster, and his fiancée Diane Macklin of Baltimore; sisters-in-law, Doris Kloos of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Evelyn Inmon of Frederick, Maryland, and Dorothy Shindle of Westminster; a brother-in-law, W. Richard Shindle of Westminster; a cousin, Nancy Lynn Theiss of Mercer; and a nephew and niece, Randall Inmon and Cathy Lee Inmon, both of Frederick. Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster, with the Rev. Charles O. Shaffer officiating. Burial was in Westminster Cemetery.
