John Z. Roshala

John Z. Roshala, 73, of 1355 Monticello Avenue, Hermitage, died on Sunday, July 27, 2014, in the Intensive Care Unit of Sharon Regional Health System, after a sudden illness. John was born December 27, 1940, in Sharon, to John and Tillie Spetar Roshala, and was a 1958 graduate of Sharon High School and lifelong area resident. John retired in March 2005 from CCL Container Inc. in Hermitage, where he was a machinist for nearly 20 years, having previously worked in the same capacity at the former Wean United, Warren, Ohio, for 16 years. He was a member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Some of his fondest memories were of floating in the Yellowstone River in southwest Montana while vacationing. He was also a car enthusiast and restored a 1957 Chevrolet, which he enjoyed entering in car shows. He was a daily walker in Buhl Farm park for many years, regardless of the weather. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. John is survived by his wife, the former Gloria C. Butala, whom he married August 31, 1963, in Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage; three sons, John M. Roshala, Hermitage; Michael Roshala, Sharpsville; and David Z. Roshala and his wife Leean, also Hermitage; two granddaughters, whom he adored, Stephanie and Grace Roshala; and a sister, Patricia Heintz, Erie. John was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday, July 31, in Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with the Rev. Jeffery J. Noble, pastor, as celebrant. Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage. Arrangements were by the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
