Joseph Lawrence McNerney, Jr.

Joseph Lawrence McNerney, Jr., 64, of 1324 Karen Oval, Vienna, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, Ohio. Joe was born in Gary, Indiana, to Joseph Lawrence McNerney and Helen Curry McNerney. Following graduation from Sharon High School he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, and served on the USS Forrestal in a Marine detachment. He recently retired from Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren, Ohio, after 38 years of service. Joe was a member of the Concourse Motorcycle Owners Club, the Vienna Fish and Game Club, and recently attended a reunion of the USS Forrestal Marine Detachment Alumni Association with his fiancee, Lois Gardner (the former Lois Jazwinski, SHS Class of '59). He also enjoyed skeet shooting, sailing, and hunting. He is survived by one son, Sean Patrick McNerney, Ann Arbor, Michigan; one daughter, Kim Yeager, and her husband Jeff, of Braselton, Georgia; two granddaughters, Megan and Brittany Yeager; and his fiancee, Lois Gardner. A mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 10th, in St. Vincent DePaul Church, 4453 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
