James Emory “Jim” Biesecker, 71, of 40782 Woodside Place, Leesburg, Virginia, died at home on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. He was born January 15, 1941, in Sharon, to Robert E. and Rebecca H. Biesecker, and was a 1958 graduate of Sharon High School. He attended Penn State University, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Sanitary Engineering in 1962, followed by a Master of Science in Sanitary Engineering. Jim spent his entire career working for the U.S. Department of Interior, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), serving in Harrisburg, Pa., Washington, D.C., and Denver, Colorado. He published a number of professional papers and books on hydrology. He retired in 1996 to his home in Leesburg, Virginia, where he enjoyed a happy, active life. He is survived by his wife, Classmate Joyce Elaine (Hurst) Biesecker, whom he married August 21, 1960, three sons (Brian, Keith and Bruce), six grandchildren (Brittany, Max, Ivan, Vaughn, Sasha, and Imre), and his sister, Jane Neil.
