John D. Wible

John D. Wible, 75, of 630 South 4th Street, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, January 26, 2015, in his residence. He was was born February 26, 1940, in Grove City, one of three children born to John H. and Irene Black Wible. A lifelong area resident, John graduated from Sharon High School in 1958. He later studied at what is now Youngstown State University. A decorated Army veteran, he trained at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. John was honorably discharged with both the Good Conduct Medal and the Expert Rifleman Badge. In his early years, he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and for several leading manufacturing companies, including General American Transportation Corporation, United States Steel, and the former Sharon Steel Corporation’s Farrell plant, where he was manager of labor relations and safety. John was proud to have received a letter from United Steelworkers of America citing his character, humility and sense of fairness while at Sharon Steel. He left Sharon Steel to become a supervisor for Union Electric Steel, Carnegie, Pennsylvania. John was an executive for several companies and served as president at the former New Castle Industries Inc. He also was president and chief executive officer for Forney Inc., Hermitage. In his later years, he founded Keystone Rolls, Wheatland, a company he would sell in 2000 as he entered semi-retirement. In 2001, John re-entered the business world and worked until recently as chief financial officer to Industry Weapon Inc., Pittsburgh. John attended Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage. He and his wife enjoyed times spent playing golf during winter months in Florida. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many; he will be sadly missed. His wife, the former Elaine Spetar, whom he married Oct. 3, 1964, survives at home. He is also survived by: a daughter, Christine M. Killian and her husband Scott, Oak Park, Calif.; a son, J. David Wible and his wife Dani’Elle, Venetia, Pa.; two sisters, Marilyn Currier, Emlenton, Pa., and Janet Hudak and her husband Bernie, Prospect, Butler County; and five grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Poppy,” Lauren and Austin Killian and Ava, Will and Grey Wible. John was preceded in death by his parents and his father- and mother-in-law, George and Clara Spetar. A funeral service was held Friday, October 30, 2015, in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home Chapel, 1090 East State Street, Sharon, with the Rev. David S. Evans, pastor of Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage, officiating. Interment was at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage, with full military honors.
