Gertrude L. “Trudy” (Askerneese) Berryman, 69, of 198 Mumford Drive, Youngstown, Ohio, died September 24, 2009, at her home after a brief battle with colon cancer. She was born in Sharon April 6, 1940, to Hugh Clyde and Theodora E. (Arnold) Askerneese, and was a 1958 graduate of Sharon High School. She attended the University of Chicago and enlisted in the U. S. Women’s Army Corps, where she attained the rank of E-5. After receiving an honorable discharge, Trudy married Master Sergeant Henry Lee Berryman, Sr., in 1967. To this union were born two sons, Henry L. Berryman, Jr., and Eric W. Berryman, Sr. Trudy worked at Kessler Products, Store Engineering, and the Youngstown Area Urban League. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Beverly Hugh Askerneese. She leaves Henry L. (Lisa) Berryman, Jr. and Eric W. (Candace) Berryman, Sr.; four grandchildren; and sisters Christina E. Askerneese and Bertha J. Thomas of Fuquay Varina, N.C., and Patricia A. Overton. Funeral services were at noon on Tuesday, September 29th, at El Shaddai Dominion Ministries, 1005 Liberty Road, Youngstown. Arrangements were by the F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home.
