Daniel George Schweiss, 74, of 2473 Windy Pines Bend, Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, in the intensive care unit of Princess Anne Hospital, Virginia Beach, after a brief illness. Dan was born August 27, 1940, in Sharon to Lawrence and Ann Schweiss. He was a 1958 graduate of Sharon High School and graduated from Youngstown State University, earning a bachelor of science degree in accounting. He retired in 1994 as an internal auditor from Weirton (W.Va.) Steel, where he worked for 21 years. An Army veteran, he served for three years and achieved a rank of Specialist (SP4.) He was a member of St. John the Apostle Church, Virginia Beach and the Knights of Columbus. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed bowling, fantasy football and hockey. His wife, the former Adrienne Arendas, whom he married May 23, 1964, survives at home. Also surviving are: two daughters, Danelle Hamilton, Spottsylvania, Va.; and Dori Schweiss, Virginia Beach; a son, Daniel Schweiss and his fiancee Sandy, also Virginia Beach; two brothers, Lawrence, Sharon; and Charles, Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Kalie Hamilton. |  |
