Daniel Curtis Mausser

Daniel Curtis Mausser, 60, of 1842 South Mesa Drive, Palm Springs, California, a nonsmoker, died of lung cancer in the arms of his wife, the former Judith Lea Shaffer (SHS Class of '58) on Thursday, September 7, 2000, in his home. He was born July 14, 1940, to Frank and Anna Bott Mausser in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and married Judy on August 25, 1961, in Winchester, Virginia. Dan attended Youngstown (Ohio) University, California State University, Northridge, U.C.L.A. and U.S.C., where he earned a Bachelor's degree in engineering and Master's degrees in both business and engineering. He worked at Douglas Aircraft Company in Santa Monica, in the early sixties, helping design many of the early space craft, and spent the last 20 years as a manager at The Aerospace Corporation, commandeering many exciting projects, including a lengthy involvement with the space shuttle. He was an accomplished golfer and spent many happy moments on the golf course. He was an Army sharpshooter and as a 20-year old was chosen to be one of the President's 100. Dan was a devoted family man and he and the entire family were world travelers, thanks to Judith and United Air Lines, where she had a lifetime career before her retirement. Dan was highly respected in the aerospace industry throughout the world and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Judy, son Daniel Jason, daughter Dana Jo, and daughter Diana Lea, and two grandchildren, Danielle Arianna, 7, and Stephen Satorios, 3. Burial was at Palm Springs Mortuary, Cathedral City, California.
