Anna Mary "Mimi" (Lavery) Smith, 72, of 11809 Old Drovers Way, Rockville, Maryland, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, as a result of pneumonia following cancer surgery. She was born June 5, 1939, in Sharon, to Paul J. and Mary F. Lavery, and was a 1958 graduate of Sharon High School. Following graduation she attended Youngstown State University. She then moved with her parents to Maryland, where she later married Arthur Smith on February 8, 1969. For over 20 years she was employed as a secretary at the Corporate Headquarters of Marriott International, Inc., in Bethesda, Maryland. She loved the Washington Redskins football team and enjoyed taking trips anywhere, especially to the beach. She is survived by her only child, Christopher Smith, of 11807 Old Drovers Way, Rockville, Maryland, and a brother, Michael P. Lavery, of Silver Spring, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, in 1978, and her brother, John. She donated her body to science. | ![]() |
