Alice Esther (Sundelin) Bowers, 76, of Poland, Ohio, passed away peacefully under the care of Hospice House on Thursday evening, December 8, 2016, following a brief illness. She was born in Sharon on June 18, 1940, a daughter of Ralph and Anna Mae (Brown) Sundelin. She graduated from Sharon High School in 1958 and went on to graduate from Edinboro University. Alice taught third grade for West Middlesex schools until her retirement. She enjoyed working with ceramics, bowling, listening to gospel music, and traveling to camp in the Alleghenys. She loved spending time at her camper at Lake Erie, but above all she was deeply devoted to her cherished family. She will be sadly missed by: her daughters, Diana Stupka, Austintown, Linda Zanolli, Brookfield, Tina Bowers, Youngstown, and Penny Bowers, Sharon; her brother, Ralph Sundelin, Sharon; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. Mrs. Bowers was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Bowers; and her sister, Jean First. A funeral service was held in the Sample-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 555 E. State St., Sharon, with Captain Michael Jung from the Salvation Army, officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage. | ![]() |
